Our Next Meeting

Monday, September 8, 2025.

The featured speaker will be Garett Slater, the Apiculture Extension Specialist and Assistant Professor at Texas A&M University, where he leads statewide efforts to support and educate beekeepers.

Join us for a presentation by Dr. Slater as we explore the vital but often overlooked role of honey bee drones. While queen bees receive much of the attention, drones are indispensable for mating, queen quality, and overall colony health. Garett will shed light on how drones contribute to queen performance and colony success, and will delve into the factors influencing drone reproductive quality. This talk will highlight why drones deserve more recognition and understanding, offering a deeper appreciation of their essential functions within the hive.
