THE SCHOLARSHIP FUND’S NAME
The CCHBA scholarship fund was named for John Talbert III because of his contribution over the years to the beekeeping associations and for promoting beekeeping education for everyone who wants to learn and especially for our youth who are our future.


LOCAL LEADERSHIP
John Talbert has served at all levels of beekeeping associations including President of the Texas Beekeepers Association (TBA) and Executive Secretary for the American Beekeeping Federation (ABF). John is a frequent speaker at local, state and national conferences as well as our “current” and long standing Executive Secretary of the TBA. He taught beekeeping seminars for about 15 years and has been a speaker at both state and national conferences. He is very active in local educational opportunities to help provide speakers for civic clubs and schools. He has managed the Texas Beekeepers Association Honey Booth at the State Fair of Texas for 22 years. For six years straight it was selected as the “Peoples Choice” exhibit in the Food and Fiber Pavilion by the Texas Department of Agriculture.

The scholarship is made as an annual donation to the Texas Honey Bee Education Association (THBEA) to support bee education and research in the State of Texas.
